Philip Sowah is a management consultant with 20+ years Senior Management experience in general management, telecommunications, information technology, and business consulting with multi-nationalÂ companiesÂ across the US, Africa and the Middle East. He is currently the managing director of Gentry Consulting Services (GCS), a technology and business consultancy which he founded. Currently Philip has been engaged to help implement a telecommunications interconnect clearing house (ICH) in Ghana. Prior to GCS, Philip was the managing director of Airtel Ghana which was previously Zain Ghana. Philip managed the startup and launch of aÂ new mobile network operator (MNO) and a new brand, Zain Ghana, as the first full 3G network in Ghana. As Zain transitioned to Airtel, Philip continued to manage the aggressive growth of the company to become the 3rd largest MNO in terms of revenue after launching as the sixth operator in a highly competitive market. Philip was also one of the founders of the Ghana Telecom Chamber, which is theÂ primary telecommunications industry advocate agency in Ghana. Prior to joining the telecommunications industry, Philip held Senior Management roles in a wide range of multi-national companies such as Deloitte, Procter & Gamble and IBM Global Services.
He is a strong believer in sustainable CSR (corporate social responsibility) and this has been a hallmark of the companies he has managed. Philip and the organizations he has led have won several industry awards and accolades. He has degrees in both Physics and Mechanical Engineering from Grinnell College in Iowa and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.Â He also serves on a number of corporate boards.
